Over 250 expectant and newly delivered mothers at the Kiambu Level 5 Hospital are today beneficiaries of a Mama and Baby gift packs from the MPESA Foundation as they celebrate 20 years.
Led by Deputy Governor H.E. Dr Joyce Ngugi, Kiambu County Assembly Women Caucus visited women in the Kiambu Maternity Hospital and held a board meeting with the hospital management to discuss ways to improve service delivery.
The Deputy Governor noted that there are still pregnant teenagers in the various wards, and that the County government together with the Women Caucus, are collecting data and holding mentorship programs to try and curb this, and also ensuring that the pregnant teenagers are well taken care of without stigmatisation.
Ms. Wako Solano of Mpesa Foundation noted that they plan to reach 6000 vulnerable mothers across the country in 24 medical facilities.
