Governor Nyoro launches a modern fire and disaster management center in karuri

The County Government of Kiambu through Karuri Municipality has invested in an ultra-modern Fire and Disaster Management Center which I officially commissioned today.

The Kshs 63 Million facility will serve Karuri, surrounding Municipalities, Nairobi City County and other areas to ensure timely and efficient disaster response.

The center will also ensure effective emergency response time, fire safety and audit, training of fire officers, divers, paramedics, first aiders and installation of fire hydrants.

To modernize the center further, my government will equip the centre with dormitories, fire engines and a GIS system that will ensure 24/7 tracking and response of disasters countywide.

The facility which has a capacity to hold 50 fire and rescue officers will also serve as a training Centre for basic fire fighting skills, divers, paramedics, and also first aiders who will give services to these areas in case of a disaster.

Due to the location of the Municipality and increased population pressure, the area has been experiencing fires, flooding and collapse of buildings thereby necessitating the need for an ultra- modern fire and disaster management Centre. There has also been demand for fumigation due to Covid 19 Pandemic in the entire Kiambu County.
